This is why our treatments for Postpartum Depression work so well:

We focus on the root cause of your problem

Our unique, 100% natural treatment methods focus on treating the root cause of your problem, as well as the symptoms that often accompany it. The results of each treatment are cumulative and after each visit we will have you feeling more relief.

We use a 100% natural and integrative approach

We know that many of our patients with pain are taking medications or seeing a therapist. With our approach, we will never tell you to stop taking your medications or to just rely on us for your care. Our treatment methods will help you integrate a 100% natural healing method to your current care because an integrative approach is the best approach.

We keep our treatment plans simple

Regaining control over your body does not require any sort of extreme treatment regimen, restrictive diet, or a countless number of visits. Our homework for you will be easy to follow and contain routines that will be sustainable to your lifestyle.

Our Simple Process

Step One

During your free initial consultation, you will meet with your acupuncturist to discuss your case. We will go over your current symptoms, medical history, medications you are taking, lifestyle and habits, diet, and YOUR GOALS for your treatments here. We want you to be sure that our program will meet your needs before we move on to the next step.

Step Two

After your free consultation, and you agree to move forward, the next step is the initial appointment. During the initial appoint, we will go over your intake form and will complete a detailed assessment of your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle factors, etc, to determine the root cause of the issue and to devise a treatment plan. You will receive acupuncture during this visit.

Step Three

You will return for once to bi-weekly visits to ensure that you will begin to feel the positive shifts of the treatments. We want to make sure your treatment plan is yielding exceptional results with pain relief, better mental clarity, level and stable mood, alleviation of symptoms, etc.

Step Four

Once we see stable improvements in your condition, we will begin to reduce the frequency of visits. When this happens we will want you to come in every other week, then once a month, and eventually you will no longer need regular treatments.

Our Proven Method

Personalized and 100% Natural Medicine

Gentle Acupuncture

Acupuncture works by stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles, with fine filiform (solid) needles. The result of this stimulation has been shown to: cause the body to release pain-relieving endorphins, increase circulation at the site of needle insertion, reduce inflammation, and stimulates your own body's internal healing process.

Herbal Medicine

For thousands of year, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners have relied on herbal medicine to treat illness, alleviate pain, and to prolong health. It has been said that the greatest treasure that TCM has to offer is in the herbal formulas. Western herbalists often prescribe single herbs per conditions however, our herbal formulas were compounded to mitigate the side effects of certain herbs. Along with the proper diet, herbs can help resolve a health issue safely and naturally.

Diet Modification

To aid in the resolution in many conditions, we will suggest modifications to a persons diet. These modifications can help in the healing process by reducing inflammation, improving and easing digestion, resolving sickness faster, etc. My goal with this dietary advice is to help you find a sustainable alternative to your current diet so that it will be easy to follow, and easy to modify to your lifestyle.

Lifestyle Advice

In these modern times, it is quite easy to neglect certain areas of our life that could help us feel less stressed, and feel healthier. The advice that I give is often simple and can include: incorporate a very short meditation session to your daily routine, pay attention to your breath in times of high stress or anxiety, start working out, spend more time in the outdoors, providing information on how to create a less stressful schedule, etc.

OUR PROFESSIONAL STAFF LOVES WHAT WE DO

You'll always feel welcome and cared for.

Michael Hirofumi Sugiura, MsTCM, L.Ac.

Owner and Acupuncturist

Michael Sugiura is a licensed acupuncturist in Colorado and a Diplomate of Traditional Chinese Medicine through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I grew up in Denver and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Colorado State University. Later, after hating the cubicle life, I earned a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I was drawn to this medicine because of a life long interest in herbal medicine and alternative healing methods. I was a skeptic of acupuncture and Chinese medicine for most of my life, and was in the boat that most people are in when they think it is a treatment that you have to “believe in” to work. It all changed after I convinced my girlfriend at the time to try acupuncture to treat an ailment that doctors said was going to be a life long problem, would require surgery to treat, and without surgery she was going to have zero chance of being able to conceive a child. Well that Groupon purchase paid off, after 5 treatments and a two months worth of herbs, the problem was resolved. My interest only grew from there.

I am thrilled to open The Subtle Point to serve my hometown to become healthier and happier.

Postpartum Depression Support

Serving Denver, Denver Tech Center, Aurora, Greenwood Village, Centennial, Englewood, Parker, and surrounding communities

At The Subtle Point, we provide a 100% natural solution to treat all types of problems with women’s health. We serve Denver, The Denver Tech Center, Greenwood Village, Aurora, and the surrounding communities. A natural solution for women’s health management is vital for patients that need a supplement to their current health regimen since many of the commonly prescribed drugs can be addicting and have negative health impacts with a wide variety of side effects.

Our women’s health support program includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, mind-body exercises, lifestyle and dietary advice, light therapy, and other modalities of natural medicine that can greatly enhance your mental, physical and spiritual health.

Acupuncture is effective in treating all types of women’s health issues as it improves circulation to the needled area, stimulates nerves, reduces pain and inflammation, helps to regulate hormones and cycles, and balance out emotions. We know that many chronic and severe women’s health issues can affect the mind in many different ways and acupuncture is a great way to handle these secondary issues as well.

Herbal medicine is said to be the strongest component of Chinese medicine because the herbal formulas that we utilize can alleviate pain, regulate cycles, strengthen the body to heal itself, and calm the mind. There are many misconceptions about Chinese herbal medicine, the biggest being that we use endangered species in our formulas. At our clinic, we have a 100% guarantee that our products do not contain anything from an endangered species, and the products that we do carry go through the same strict production guidelines as other high-grade supplements that are sold across the country.

If you want to learn more about our 100% natural treatments and want to find out more about our treatment process contact us at (720)285-6251. We are here to serve Denver, Denver Tech Center, Greenwood Village, Aurora, Parker, Centennial, Englewood, and the surrounding communities.

Chinese Medicine – Over 2000 years of successfully treating postpartum depression

Acupuncture treatments for postpartum depression were first developed and implemented over 2000 years ago. These treatments were some of the first to be implemented, and since then the treatments have become more advanced with each generation. Postpartum depression, along with the many different physical and psychological symptoms that arise with it, has been successfully treated with acupuncture, herbal medicine, heat therapy, moxibustion, mind-body exercises, and lifestyle and dietary advice. What this means when you start a Chinese Medicine regimen for women’s health issues is that you are going to start a proven treatment, used successfully by millions of people over the past few thousand years.

An Integrative Approach

Over the centuries Chinese Medicine has constantly evolved to incorporate many different approaches and modalities to treat women’s health. This constant refinement of the techniques, point combinations, herbs, etc, has created a diverse approach to treating women’s health on its own. Today, we know that acupuncture and Chinese medicine can be a great addition to add to your current health management regimen.

One of the biggest benefits of adding Traditional Chinese Medicine to your routine is because we do not just treat the physical aspect of your issues, we also treat the mind. We know that long term health issues can cause psychological problems, like stress or depression, and it is vital to address all of these things in order to fully help a patient feel better.

An affordable, cost-effective treatment

Our treatment program is both and cost-effective when compared to surgery and the potential long term costs of getting addicted to pain medications or their side effects. The results of each acupuncture treatment will be cumulative, and we will give you the tools and knowledge to help you out when you are not in the office.

Frequently Questions & Answers About Our Treatments

Does it hurt?

Acupuncture uses needles that are significantly smaller than any syringe that a doctor would normally use. The sensation has been said to be comparable to a bug bite or a pinch, but often most people do not feel anything at all.  Certain points are can be very tender to needle, and we almost always try not to use these points unless absolutely necessary. If you are sensitive to the needles we will adjust your treatment accordingly so that we can help you achieve your health goals in alignment with your comfort.

How long is each appointment?

At The Subtle Point, we offer a variety of services that can run from 5 minutes to as long as an hour. Initial appointments, however, are one hour long. During that appointment, we will go over your health intake form, go over the estimated amount of treatments that will get you to your optimal health, go over the treatment methods that will be utilized, herbal medicine, dietary and lifestyle advice, and more.

Can natural medicine REALLY help my psychological problems?

Absolutely. Your body is capable of healing almost any problem, especially when it has the specialized natural therapies we offer to help it get back on track. We do this by addressing the root cause of your problem as well as treating the symptoms that go along with it.

Do I need to disrobe for treatment?

For the most part, no you don't. I typically try and utilize points below the elbows and knees, sometimes around the belly, and sometimes on the back. Because of this I highly recommend that you come in wearing loose, comfortable clothing to allow easy access to these areas.

Will you tell me to stop taking my psych medications?

Absolutely NOT. First off, that is out of our scope of practice, and second, there are many potentially dangerous side effects that may arise when someone abruptly stops taking certain medications. We can work with you and your physician to slowly taper you off your current medications once you start seeing results from our 100% natural treatments.

How many treatments does it take?

The number of treatments that it takes to treat any given condition is based on a great number of factors. Some of these factors can include the length of having said condition, age, dietary and lifestyle factors, willingness to perform self-care at home, etc. It would also be safe to say that this medicine isn't magic and no condition will be fully resolved after one treatment. However, with that being said, many patients often leave the office with less pain than they started with and feeling more relaxed.

How long does it take to see results?

People often feel a positive shift after the very first treatment. Acupuncture is a very powerful way to stimulate endorphin release, which is the most powerful relaxing substance the body makes.

What are my chances of success?

Results do vary. Over 75% of our patients report improvement in their symptoms after just a few visits and many are able to reduce their medication use (if used, and under the supervision of the prescribing physician). However, every situation is unique and once we meet with you we will be able to give you our best estimate of time and prognosis of outcome.
